 Hi there!
I’ve been the Chair of the Parents Teachers Friends Committee (PTFA) at my children’s junior school for the past few years. In this position, I have collaborated with many parents across the school at events and, in the process, we got chatting. I found that among the parent cohort at this little local school, there was a wealth of talent and skills: entrepreneurs; business owners; creatives; freelancers with skills in everything from garden landscaping to film-making and in a wealth of industries from law to holistic medicine.

 And yet, for the most part, we remain disconnected, unaware that there is a wealth of possible collaborations out there. And even if collaboration wouldn’t suit your business model, there is a great deal of knowledge from people who play the entrepreneurial game every day. Whether you are long in the tooth in business, or just starting out, I believe that everyone has something to give.

 Certainly, someone who has just started coming up with a business idea and begun the first tentative steps into entrepreneurship has fresh and insightful tips and knowledge, because they would have found different platforms; ideas and launch pads than people who stepped into the game a long time ago.

 And so, I have started a local networking group – the Small Business Co-Llab. It’s primarily based in Epsom, but we are not exclusive and if you are based elsewhere and can make the journey to us, please consider joining us.

 We will meet one Friday morning a month at the Caballo Lounge in Epsom. There will be a chance to meet other people in your shoes and to build a community in your local area.

 At the moment, there is no membership and no fee. I really feel the benefit of this is to help each other and to connect, collaborate and build a community, as per the tagline. See what connections you can make; what value you can offer and how you can help your fellow entrepreneurs.
