Variety: The Spice of Life

It’s been a busy and varied few weeks. It’s often advised that entrepreneurs niche down, but with so many interesting portrait subjects to photograph, I find that nigh on impossible.

Over the past month or so, I have photographed the team of a market-leading underwriters, Solertia Insurance, based in the City of London. As well as the owner of a creative branding agency, based in South East London.

I’ve spent a day with a Wimbledon family in the first part of a ‘Day in the Life’ photo shoot. Six hours capturing the minutiae of an ordinary family day (we even mocked up school uniforms and the school trip on a Sunday – the neighbours thought we were very confused!). I loved every minute as I recalled my own children at those ages of seven and five.

I’ve done a personal branding session in my Epsom studio, complete with hair and make-up for a creative marketing agency based in Surrey, but servicing large financial clients across the globe (Linear B Media).

I’ve photographed the lovely Kelly Chandler from Kelly Chandler Consulting at the inaugural meeting for the Small Business Co-llab, the networking group I’ve set up to service the Epsom and Surrey areas. You can join our Facebook group here. Our next meeting is at the Caballo Lounge in Epsom on Friday 14th June, 9-11am. Please come down if it’s something you think you would find useful, and please pass the news on to others.

Today, I met the family that won my ‘Win a Headshot’ photo shoot. Lizzie had no need for a headshot shoot, so we negotiated a mini family shoot instead. It was very cold for late May, but the children weathered it well, dressed in their summer clothes, while I wore my electric heated gloves!
I enjoyed it so much that I have decided to run more Prize Draws in the future to give more individuals and families the chance to work with me. Watch this space, stay subscribed and let anyone else know who you think would be interested! You can see some early results on my social media over the next few days.

Finally, I have just heard that I have reached the second round of the Taylor Wessing Photo Portrait Prize at the National Portrait Gallery. This is a super prestigious prize and to be honest I am amazed I’ve got this far, so I am not holding out for any more.

The image was of my daughter at 15. It’s the start of a series of portraits I want to do of people at certain ages. Watch this space for more details.

Apart from all that, I am just back from a few days in the New Forest, where my children absolutely refused to pose for any photos. So after years of having muses on tap, I now find I need to get my kicks elsewhere… maybe with your family…

Til next time… I’ll be a doing a Sundance for some better weather…

Take care

Charlie
