The relief of having a cache of personal branding images
Marketing today has moved predominantly online, be it LinkedIn, TikTok, Insta (pick your poison). And that means arresting your target audience with visually captivating images, photographs that are going to make them stop and look.
Being a photographer, you would think that I would hold the secret source, with literally thousands of images at my disposal.
And yet do I post regularly?
If there is one (ha) thing I am failing at, it is just that. I don’t get out there or show anyone my literally thousands of images.
Having just stepped back from a voluntary role that has sucked up huge amounts of time, I have decided to redress this.
But I quickly realised that my ‘literally thousands’ of images are actually prohibitive. There are so many, I cannot sift through them and choose, edit, post.
Suffering overwhelm, but feeling the pressure to get some images out there, I thought I’d post some of me. Except, I have very few of me because, you know, how often do we actually swallow our own medicine? How many builders do you know who never get round to doing up their own houses? How many photographers do I know, who forget to prioritise images of themselves in their business? (One here, whoops!).
I realised what a time-saver and box-tick it is for my clients to have a set list of their go-to personal branding and headshot images. To know that when they are not feeling inspired to post anything else, they can choose any photograph from their photography shoot and post it within minutes. What a relief that would be. Staying present, without the pressure!
A client has recently booked a double-day multi-location personal branding photo shoot in Guildford and Epsom. She’ll have a wealth of images of her in different outfits, different locations, doing different things and her insta and LinkedIn feed will stay fresh, up-to-date and dynamic for the next year or so. She won’t even need to think about it – just scroll through her folder and pick an image at random.
I’ve realised that I probably need to do the same. So, I am pencilling in a day to actually get my shoot done.
